Savannah (and Ari Gnad) were at one of Summer's first practices starting out. She was having a hard time because "girl's don't race, they do cheer and dance and girly stuff". They took Summer under there wings and went so far as to go out on track with her. It was a pivotal moment for us, and Summer, and we're forever grateful.
Regardless of how the editing portrays them, knowing them for all these years we know they are the first to help out with whatever is needed, tools, parts or an arm around the shoulder.
That, and Derek is the only person that can make Sandy smile when the kids are on track
Clearing out the garage. Sales pending on my entire inventory. If all holds, we'll be left with only two KT100's by Thanksgiving. Heck of a ride. Still one of the few that made it through Kid Karts with a single kart.
Looking forward to 2015, though we have absolutely no idea what it will bring.
We are pleased to announce that we will be sponsoring the Allegheny Karting Series Yamaha Rookie Class for the 2014 season. This past weekend, May 17th and 18th, Ron dusted off his driving suit and pulled the #272 Acura Integra out of the garage for a glimpse of the sun for the first time since August 2012. The NASA Great Lakes event at Pitt Race was both NASA's and Ron's first visit since 2010. On the docket was the challenge of changing classes and the loss of 27hp. After a yellow flag marred race on Saturday, Ron set out to take on the Performance Touring E track record during the Sunday races.
Sunday morning the rain clouds parted, the sun came out and the air temps stayed cool - - the perfect combination for grip and power. Ron ended up running the majority of the race under the current track record of 1:09.2 ultimately setting the current record at 1:08.4
The day ended with the car being loaded on the trailer, albiet with some electrical gremlins that reared its head during the final race on Sunday. All-in-all a successful first outing for 2014.
Next up is a 3-driver outing for the inagural Allegheny Karting Series May 31 - June 1.
Still no motors for Summer but we were able to, unfortunately, come up with a plan B. She started make progress after shaking off the cobwebs finishing 3rd and 4th.
Reagan was the class of the field, from a driving perspective. He didn't miss a flag, leave the racing surface or hit anything or anyone (though he himself got hit a few times). Posted a win in the pre-final on Saturday and 2nd place finishes in both finals.
Still no motors, so we fitted Summer in my full size kart. I have to look, she may have bested my times. Took two seat inserts and some pvc pipe pedal extensions... oh and a borrowed motor from Henry Gnad.
Summer's first feature race after getting her cast off and new helmet camera.
